Our take

Knock solves the notification infrastructure problem that every SaaS product eventually faces: coordinating email, SMS, push, Slack, and in-app notifications across complex user preference settings, without building the orchestration layer from scratch. The visual workflow builder defines notification logic (send email, wait 24 hours, if not read send push, batch daily digest) without code. User preference management lets users control which notifications they receive per-channel, with Knock handling the preference lookups and channel routing. Digest and batch features prevent notification spam (aggregate 10 alerts into one daily email). The Free tier (10,000 notifications/month) covers early-stage products. The comparison with Courier: very similar feature sets. Knock has better multi-tenant support (useful for B2B SaaS where each customer is a tenant), Courier has a larger connector ecosystem. Both are better than building notification infrastructure yourself.

Product roadmap

Knock is expanding its in-app notification feed components (pre-built React/React Native UI), adding AI-powered send-time optimization, and building out enterprise features (RBAC, audit logs, advanced tenant isolation). The product is evolving from notification routing to a full user communication platform.
