Our take

Resend is the developer-first transactional email service built by the React Email team — the API is clean, the documentation is excellent, and the React Email integration makes it trivially easy to build HTML emails in JSX with preview and hot reload rather than fighting legacy email templating. For Next.js and Node.js applications, Resend's developer experience is meaningfully better than SendGrid's. The Free tier (3,000 emails/month) and Pro at $20/month (50,000 emails) are competitive. The limitation vs SendGrid is scale and ecosystem: SendGrid processes billions of emails daily, has mature IP warming, deliverability management, and marketing email capabilities that Resend doesn't yet offer. For new projects that need clean transactional email with minimal setup, Resend is the best 2025 choice. For legacy applications already on SendGrid or teams needing marketing email + transactional in one platform, the migration cost rarely justifies switching.

Product roadmap

Resend is expanding its email analytics capabilities, adding marketing email features (segments, campaigns) to compete with SendGrid's full platform, and building out team collaboration features. React Email (the template library) continues to evolve as the developer-preferred email templating standard.
