Adobe's UI/UX design and prototyping tool, now exclusively bundled in Creative Cloud. Discontinued as a standalone product — access requires CC All Apps ($89.99/mo) or single-app ($54.99/mo). Remains viable for existing Creative Cloud subscribers but no longer actively developed with new features.
Our take
Adobe XD is effectively in maintenance mode. Adobe stopped adding major new features after the Figma acquisition attempt collapsed, and the product now ships only minor updates. It remains usable for teams already inside Creative Cloud, but recommending it for new projects in 2026 is hard to justify when Figma offers superior collaboration, a more active roadmap, and lower per-seat cost. The only genuine use case: designers at orgs with enterprise Creative Cloud licenses who want XD at zero marginal cost.
Product roadmap
No public roadmap. Adobe has shifted UX/design investment to Firefly, Fresco, and AI-driven features in Photoshop and Illustrator. XD is unlikely to receive significant new capabilities.
Who is Adobe XD for?
Figma's free tier gives you more than XD requires a paid CC subscription to match. Hard to recommend XD for solo designers.
Unless your whole team is already on Creative Cloud, the per-seat cost and limited collaboration features make Figma the obvious choice.
Medium orgs on enterprise CC contracts get XD included — it's usable but not recommended as the primary design tool going forward.
Large enterprises with CC site licenses get XD at no additional cost. Acceptable as a legacy tool but plan migration to Figma.
